I think that these activities have really helped me grow
and realise what I want and how to achieve my university goals. It makes me feel more confirmed about my options for my studies in the future and I'm more confirmed about my learning style so that I can increase the level of studying. I have learnt
that I am a kinesthetic learner. Thus, I can focus more on my studies and strengthen my strategies to study. For example, I can throw a tennis ball to the wall while memorizing my notes and it actually helps me to be more focused in memorizing stuff.

Final Reflection
Inspiration
There's one person who inspired me to work hard in my studies as she's really a hardworking and smart girl. Her name is Lim Wei Shan and she's studying in the same class with me this year. She took 4 subjects which is Chemistry, Mathematics, Economics and Physics.
When I have difficulties in solving any questions, I'll never hesitate to ask her because she told me once that she's glad and willing to help me as she loves to help the others. She is really a nice person as well as she never give up on anyone. She will always try her best to help the others out from suffering alone. She believes that no one should fight alone and everyone should help the ones in the worse situation. Thus, she inspired me to help me the others as this is a very good thing to do because we need the others' help when we are suffering alone too. She often join charity activities such as Soup Kitchen to help the homeless people for giving them foods and clothes. However, she has a kind heart which attract the others to stay along her and that's why she has lots of friends as she's a charming person too.
Moreover, she's a really hardworking person as she always complete her works and tasks give by our lecturer. She does spending time to study at home for further understanding of the syllabus taught by teacher in class. When she has any doubt, she will ask for help from lecturers or her friends. She makes sure that she understands every part of the subjects to make her excel well in her results. I become hardworking to study because of her as I created a new timetable to make sure that I study well even at home. She's truly my inspiration and she's really a great friend to have in college.

My Dream University
My ambition is to be an civil engineer in the future and I'm very interested in studying engineering courses. I have currently targeted 5 universities which University of Bath, University of Birmingham, University of Manchester and etc. next year. But, there's one specific university that I really want to go which is University of Sheffield.
This is because they has really great researches on this particular field which allow me to have more opportunities to understand what is civil engineering. Their research is also internationally recognised. Nevertheless, The Guardian Good University Guide 2014 ranks University of Sheffield number 4 in the UK for civil engineering. They have won four University awards for excellent teaching since 2011. Our industry partners contribute to teaching through lectures, design classes, project work and site visits. They often work with consultants, contractors and specialist civil engineering companies to get me as much practical experience as they can.
Thus after graduating from the University of Sheffield, I'll be able to work all over the world, from the UK to Australia and the USA. I'll be one of the trusted engineers, consultants, analysts and planners. The employers include Amey, BCS Design, Interserve, Mott MacDonald and more.
I'll be joining the September intake in 2015 which is next year to pursue my study overseas. It requires me to get a result of AAA iclude Mathematics and one science subject to get my offer. I'll totally continue work hard for it and try my best to get the best result that I can. They also require me to get overall IELTS grade of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component which include speaking, writing, listening and etc. Through what I have mentioned in SWOT and SMART, I believe that I'll be able to be success easily if I keep my efforts on and stay on positive attitudes.
All the best to my offers and hope that's good news from UCAS.

SMART Goal Setting
My target: Getting all A's for my subject in A levels
M: I'll increase my time of studying by 1 hour each day.
A: I'll try harder to push my result one grade above what I used to have which is B.
R: My goal is to get into a good university for my course.
T: My goal is to increase my result before the next trial next year.
I want to focus on getting better results now so that I can get into a better university which leads to a better job and a better job means more money to earn. But, it needs some scarification which include going overseas for vacation, hanging out with friends and lack of time for relaxation for watching drama, talk shows and much more. I have set a timetable for study during each semester break to make sure that I will carry out my tasks and make sure that i will study during breaks. my friends are people who will help me along my goal as they're smart and i can ask them questions that I don't understand. And so, I'll be able to progress better in my study to a better level. However, I'm still attracted to some of the videos on Youtube when I'm using my computer. Thus, I'll try to limit my time of using computer and use the extra time to study.
S: I want to increase my targeted marks to 85%.
M: I'll increase my time of studying by 1 hour each day.

SWOT
The field that I'll be studying is civil engineering.
My strength in this field are:
- I'm good in problem solving as this is one of the skills required by an engineer. Furthermore, having strong base in Mathematics have helped me in developing this particular skill.
-I'm good in communicating with the others as in this is important for an engineer because engineers don't only deal with other engineers but the public too. Engineers need good communication skill in order to promote or explain their own product to the public.
-I'm a responsible and considerate student as I always complete my tasks given by my lecturer in time and make sure that I have done my part well.
-I'm also a hardworking student as I do extra exercises for my subjects everyday to improve my results.
My weakness in this field are:
-I'm lack of time management as I might spend more time doing other stuff other than studying sometimes unintentionally.
-I'm lack of confident sometimes for certain subjects.
-I keep slacking when I'm not in the mood the study.
-I often spend time hanging out with friend as I'm an outgoing person.
My opportunities in this field are:
-I'm lucky that one of my lecturer in Taylor's used to be an civil engineer which gave me lots of information about civil engineering.
-Civil engineering is an good field in Malaysia as it's a high paying job.
My threats are:
-Financial problem
-this field doesn't really fit women.
-rejection from family
-it's very competitive in Malaysia

DIEP Practice
Describe
During April. I joined my first MUN
conference at Nottingham University. In a MUN conference, delegates would
discuss about current issues and find ways to solve the issues. Ultimately,
however, a MUN conference helps us learn to communicate and share ideas with
one another. While at the conference, I was able to debate with other delegates
and share my ideas. We are also encouraged to form blocs, where a few delegates
come together to cooperate, to achieve our goals. During the conference, I was
able to experience how it was like to be in a UN conference, where delegates
would represent their countries and there will almost always have heated
discussions.
Interpret
Prior to my attendance to the event, I
thought this the conference would be like those I have attended in secondary
school. Well to be honest, the reason I decided to take part in the event was
because I could mention about it in personal statement. (Hey, don't look at me
that way. I believe I'm not the only one.) However it was totally out of my
expectations. I had the opportunity to meet great people there. They are all
people with great visions and views. Not only given the chance to listen to the
professional opinions, their ideas encouraged me to think about the global
issues which I used to think not related to my life before attending the
conference. I started to look into those topics which I would never spare a
minute reading about it before that. I think it has changed me somehow. I was
unaware of the change at first. It was when I heard people saying things like
'hey, you're so different' and 'eh, since when you are so much into current
affairs?' then only I noticed the change.
Evaluate
Evaluate
What makes the difference? I guess it is
because of the skills acquired and lessons learned through the process. By
involving myself in a series of conferences, I have become a more disciplined
person. I have to admit that I'm one who used to do last minute work but as a
delegate I won't be able to come up with a good script just over one night. To
be well prepared and give a good speech I have to read constantly and spend a
little time every day to write down my opinion on different issues, either
local or international. Now, I have made it a habit to read newspaper at least
half an hour every day. Besides, I have learnt to think analytically and
overcome the problem with the most appropriate solution. Instead of getting
panicked when several questions are thrown to me all at once, I stay calm and
try my best to figure out the best solution and rebut or refute in a short
amount of time. I also managed to put myself in other people's shoes and look
at the problems from different perspectives. Sticks in a bundle are
unbreakable. Apart from that, I have gained intrapersonal and communication
skills as well. I tend to do self-reflection and have a conversation with
myself after each conference. Did I perform well just now? How else could I
deliver the speech? Sometimes I even think 'How different would I be if I did
not join MUN?', 'What if I have taken part in the conference earlier?', 'I have
learnt so much from the event, how could I convince my friends to come along
with me so that they can learn too?' etc. Speaking of communication skill, I
think this is one of the most important skills that all of us need. I find that
it is very often for me to have a lot of ideas in my mind but do not know how
to express them. Through the conferences, I have already found out the way to
deliver my ideas and translate my thoughts into words. I believe that the
skills I have acquired would definitely benefit me in life, not only as a
student but also as a person.
Plan
What do the skills mentioned above have to
do with my future? Well I can’t relate them directly. Does being disciplined
doesn’t guarantee me to be a great pharmacist? No. Does having intrapersonal
skill doesn’t make me a perfect accountant? No. In that case, what is the
significance of those skills then? Well, it is true that completing ourselves
with those skills doesn’t guarantee us to be who we want to be in the future
but one thing I am pretty sure is that with those skills, we might not be able
to succeed, but without those skills, for sure we won’t be able to succeed.
Does that show you how important the skills are to our future? Therefore, I am
really grateful to have owned those skills through the event I joined. Being
disciplined, being able to think analytically and having intrapersonal skill
and communication skills, I believe, have made me a better person who is
continuously trying to be a more outstanding one.

Myself
My name is Teh Kai Xian. I am currently 18 years old and my birthday has passed 3 weeks ago which is on 20/11. I'm currently taking A levels at Taylor's Subang Jaya campus and the subjects that i took are Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. I'm having a great time time at Taylor's as i met lots of new people here who helped and supported me through hard times.I'm really grateful to have them in my life and they have gave me lots of surprises and happiness when I'm spending time with them.
Based on the test that I had that time during mpu, I knew that I'm the type of kinesthetic person which means I'm a person who needs to be actively doing something while learning rather than sitting down silently to listen to the instructions. And maybe a little bit of auditory type which means I'm better in listening while studying.
Since I knew what is my learning style, I should try in practice more in this particular style to make my study better. For example:
- I can study in a group.
- I should try to stay focus while studying and maybe I can tense and relax my muscles during long lectures.
- I should try my good memories skill to note down more important notes beacuse kinesthetic people always have excellent motor memory
- I should sit where you can actively participate in classroom events.
- I take notes creatively.
- I should move around as I start to study.
Through the career test that we did in the class, I realized that I'm more certain about studying in civil engineering course. Although i get the highest score in Artistic and Social but that doesn't stop me from being interested in civil engineering because that means I'm a person who is creative and know how to communicate well with people. Having good communication skill is very important for an engineer as we not only need to communicate with other engineers but the public too. We need to be able to explain and promote out products well to the public. Engineers needs to work well in group as they will be always discussing about projects to handle. Thus, interpersonal skill is very important to be developed.
Let's talk about being artistic, the characteristic of being creative can be apply to build better or a more creative looking building in our country to attract tourists which might increase the money earned from our country in the the related field.
